One of the main differences between a YU30 and other Yamaha uprights is the use of concert-grade hammers and individually weighted keys, so it’s very powerful yet also smooth to play. It has slightly longer strings and a more freely resonating soundboard. The result is a much deeper, richer and more assertive sounding instrument. The better strings and hammers get you a piano that gives superb acoustics to the subtlest note and provides a rich tone. The unique, meticulous design rounds out a piano that enhances the performance of professional and home pianists alike. 52 inches tall and built in Japan in 2004 by Yamaha’s most senior technicians and voiced by hand, they are often called “super U3’s” by those in the know. It has just received a full tuning, voicing and regulating job by one of the area’s top technicians and is raring to go for another 40 years! Finished in high gloss ebony polish, it has been cleaned and buffed to within an inch of its life.
