In Stock! The Yamaha C3 is one of the best-selling grand pianos in the world. This example, completely built in Japan in 2012, is seductively warm and rich, yet gives up little in terms of inner detail and openness. Perhaps its most notable strength is a dynamic energy in the upper bass and lower treble regions that can fully resolve even the trickiest passages. The attention to detail in the regulation process that is essential to a grand piano's superior tone is given special emphasis in these instruments. Countless hours have been spent perfecting the hammers, strings, and the balance of the damping mechanism, with the final goal of rendering each and every note faithful to the intentions of the pianist. Ideal for the serious player or performer, the minute you lay hands on it you know, you just know, that this is the one.

Just back from being thoroughly detailed inside and out, the brass gleams, the finish glows and the inside is spotless. A complete regulation, voicing and concert tuning has been performed and it fairly begs to be played. Finished in ebony polish, it also comes with a brand new adjustable artist bench. Remember that at 6’ 1” it is big so do not try and put it in a small area but give it some room to breathe and look out!

Background

From the well-regarded grand pianos of the Yamaha "C series" – standing for Conservatoire – the Yamaha C3 is many musicians' dream instrument. Indeed, it's among the finest pianos the Japanese manufacturer has ever produced.

The exquisite craftsmanship, modern design, and innovative technologies mark this piano out as something special. The kind of piano that sparks fire in your fingertips and turns music into magic. Tailored toward the professional pianist market, the Yamaha C3 is not your average piano and is suitable for the most advanced players.

Specifications

Like other fine Asian pianos, the action of the Yamaha C3 is light yet responsive. That's what makes it so unique: being adept at the most intricate and demanding pieces; some may find this feature not to their liking.

Inside the piano, the exceptional soundboard is made of Sitka Spruce, which, after harvesting, is meticulously air or kiln dried to produce a precise moisture content. Part of the charm is Yamaha's crown manufacturing, where the soundboard has a distinct raised center. The result is a "bright" timbre, further accentuated by the hammer felt and strings. The "barrel-shaped" treble hammers, for example, produce a top-class tonal quality, which, alongside the bridges, allows a clear sound transmission.

There's no doubting the warmth of tone and depth of power, but the Yamaha C3 also makes a stunning first impression. Encased in polished ebony, the design is absolutely faultless – a masterclass in piano making.

History

Not so long ago, no self-respecting piano players would touch anything manufactured outside Germany's borders. Yet, the Japanese manufacturer Yamaha has developed a formidable reputation over the past century for excellence and quality instruments.

Beginning in the 1960s, the G3 was first produced and later renamed the C3. They continue to be manufactured today, with the latest models now called the C3X. All these pianos are truly exceptional, and the Yamaha C3 Grand Piano is among the best professional-grade pianos ever to come from Japan.
