SOLD! This Yamaha C3 is like none other we have ever come across. Much more powerful and assertive than normal, rich, brooding, dark and mysterious but with a smoldering flame underneath. Everyone who has sat down to play it has been shocked by how different it is but then utterly captivated. None of the typical bright treble or thick bass that you find on so many pianos. Designed for Yamaha by Schimmel but built in Japan in 2006 by some of Yamaha’s senior technicians who gave it the gift of being able to fully resolve even the trickiest passages. Countless hours have been spent perfecting the hammers, strings, and the balance of the damping mechanism, with the final goal of rendering each note faithful to the intentions of the pianist. Admittedly not for everybody but someone is going to sit down and the minute their hands touch the keys they will know, just know, that in their heart this is the one.
But the best part might be that this C3 has the scarce mute/practice bar device on it. Just pull the lever underneath and play to your heart's content without bothering your family or neighbors. A complete regulation, voicing and concert tuning has been performed by one of the area’s best Yamaha technicians. Finished in ebony polish and it includes a brand-new adjustable artist bench. Remember that at 6’ 1” it is big so do not try and put it in a small room but give it some room to breathe and look out! New ones are $60,899 which is why our used C3’s always seem to sell so fast but this one will go especially quickly.
Background
From the well-regarded grand pianos of the Yamaha "C series" – standing for Conservatoire – the Yamaha C3 is many musicians' dream instrument. Indeed, it's among the finest piano's the Japanese manufacturer has ever produced.
The exquisite craftsmanship, modern design, and innovative technologies mark this piano out as something special. The kind of piano that sparks fire in your fingertips and turns music into magic. Tailored toward the professional pianist market, the Yamaha C3 is not your average piano and is suitable for the most advanced players.
Specifications
Like other fine Asian pianos, the action of the Yamaha C3 is light yet responsive. That's what makes it so unique: being adept at the most intricate and demanding pieces; some may find this feature not to their liking.
Inside the piano, the exceptional soundboard is made of Sitka Spruce, which, after harvesting, is meticulously air or kiln dried to produce a precise moisture content. Part of the charm is Yamaha's crown manufacturing, where the soundboard has a distinct raised center. The result is a "bright" timbre, further accentuated by the hammer felt and strings. The "barrel-shaped" treble hammers, for example, produce a top-class tonal quality, which, alongside the bridges, allows a clear sound transmission.
There's no doubting the warmth of tone and depth of power, but the Yamaha C3 also makes a stunning first impression. Encased in polished ebony, the design is absolutely faultless – a masterclass in piano making.
History
Not so long ago, no self-respecting piano players would touch anything manufactured outside Germany's borders. Yet, the Japanese manufacturer Yamaha has developed a formidable reputation over the past century for excellence and quality instruments.
Beginning in the 1960s, the G3 was first produced and later renamed the C3. They continue to be manufactured today, with the latest models now called the C3X. All these pianos are truly exceptional, and the Yamaha C3 Grand Piano is among the best professional-grade pianos ever to come from Japan.
