The Innovation Schimmel Trilogy
In Stock! Our largest Classic grand piano C 213 is based on the design characteristics of our full size Koncert grand piano K 280. Essentially, the ‘sound system’ in the middle and treble section and the action of our Konzert grand piano K 280 was partly transferred into the Classic grand piano C 213 – and with it the tonal character and the touch of our large concert grand piano. This outstanding and innovative idea was consequently transferred into every grand piano down to our smallest grand piano model, which is unique in the piano world. Because of this a pianist receives a part of our full size concert grand in each of our grand piano models. As we manufacture three grand piano sizes in our Classic series we simply call it ‘the unique Schimmel Trilogy’.
The Schimmel Piano Classic C213 model is the largest in Schimmel's Classic Series, at 7-foot in length, and is based on the design of the Konzert series concert grand piano K280. Despite drawing inspiration from the K280, the C123 is its own beast, with a unique and distinct tonal profile.
Handcrafted in Germany, where they've been continuously producing pianos for over 130 years, this Schimmel piano Classic line has history, quality, and expertise engrained into the wood itself. Indeed, the Schimmel Piano Classic line was developed to embody the traditional aspects of German piano making, in particular, the brighter tonal character.
Yet, beneath the veneer, it still incorporates new advances and features found in the Konzert series, such as the same full-size actions and an extra-large soundboard.
Built by Renner, according to Schimmel's strict instructions, the action is the same length as a full-size concert grand K280. It's a level of control most other 7-foot pianos cannot hope to reach. In fact, the Schimmel piano C213 Classic line is an ideal option for those who long for a 9-foot grand but lack the space.
What makes the Schimmel Classic line of the Schimmel piano family stand out is the tonal profile. While the C213 Schimmel piano uses the same "sound system" as the K280, the overall design of the C213 Schimmel piano produces a much brighter tonal clarity. The piano uses a double-felted hammer with a beech core, sourced from German hammer experts Wurzen. The soundboard, meanwhile, is double AA Bavarian White Spruce, tapered to enhance the acoustics – it's also approximately 15% larger than comparable grand pianos.
The Schimmel Classic series is all about heritage and tradition – harking back to the early days of Wilhelm Schimmel himself, who, in 1882, learned piano making at the Vogel and Sohn factory in Leipzig, Germany.

Review by Le monde de la musique:
“Presented in an advance première at the 2000 Frankfurt Music Fair, the Schimmel C 213 T had already made a strong impression. (...) Its fine, velvety sound combines with a freshness of timbre in the large middle section, which is typical of that of the top brands. Its impeccable action, which, in particular, enables a perfect execution of trills when playing with the keys deeply depressed, permits the exploration of a palette of natural, fruity timbres such as occurs in Debussy’s Clair de lune. A limit [to the sound] is just barely perceptible, for example, with Rachmaninoff’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 3 (excerpts) and Prokofiev’s Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 3, which brings to light bass strings which are just a bit too short and a bass break which could stand improvement. But otherwise a very fine instrument which we never got tired of listening to and which is a joy to play on.” – Yves Guilloux
