Background

With the Artist Series, Mason & Hamlin set out to create a legacy of an exceptional instrument capable of showcasing the unbridled talent of professional pianists around the world. They wished to astound audiences, delight players, and deliver a piano for the ages. Or, as they put it, "Rich heritage combined with masterful design."

Enter the Mason & Hamlin Artist Series A131 piano. Combining Solid Spruce soundboards, resilient Beech rims, and an exclusive Wessel, Nickel, & Gross Composite Action, this is a piano with the verve and flair to impress even the most talented artists.

In short, it's Mason and Hamlin at their best.

Specifications

There are two upright pianos in the Mason & Hamlin Artist series: the MHA-123U and the MHA-131U (or A131). The latter is the bigger of the two, standing at 51" tall and 59" wide. Beneath its polished black veneer, the soundboard is produced from quarter-sawn Solid Spruce that delivers a delightfully brilliant and beautiful sound – it will only improve with age.

Elsewhere, the treble and bass bridge are crafted from quarter-sawn Solid Beech, while the keyset is Solid Spruce with WNG key pins & capstans.

However, the Wessel, Nickel, and Gross Composite Actions deserve the most attention. Made from state-of-the-art materials, the actions provide ease of touch and durability, outperforming any traditional wooden actions by over three times as long. These composite materials do not alter due to moisture or temperature – this is a piano that can be trusted.

History

The very name Mason & Hamlin is a duet for the ages. When, in 1996, two brothers – Gary and Kirk Burgett – acquired the renowned brand, they maintained the same level of detail and dedication to handcrafted design.

Little wonder the Mason & Hamlin Artist Series A131 Piano is venerated; it embodies all the best elements its founders imbued in their earliest pianos.
