In Stock! Built in 1998, this scarcely used Boston GP-193 is part of the family of Steinway-designed pianos and is a full, 6'4" in size – big enough to provide a concert hall sized sound but not so large as to overwhelm a room. This one possesses the most beautiful tone, touch and control you could possibly imagine. Golden, warm and rich but with the clarity of frozen amber, none of the cloudiness that some of them have. Just a liquid tone, like poured honey, flows out of it. The touch is firm but not heavy and is ideally uniform throughout the registers. For all these reasons many professional pianists choose this model for their "home" and/or practice piano. Boston pianos feature a duplex scale, adapted from the famous Steinway & Sons design, which adds a harmonic richness that simply can’t be duplicated by other instruments in this price range.
Compared to other grand pianos, the Boston has far less string tension, this reduced tension allows for a larger, more tapered soundboard, creating longer sustain, and more singing quality in the tone (as well as longer piano life). A wealth of other engineering enhancements, including optimal placement of ribs, braces, and bridges, also contribute to the Boston’s superior tone and greater stability. Boston grand pianos offer a larger soundboard in comparison to other pianos of the same length, due to their innovative “wide tail” design. This wider construction of the case means that a 6’ 4” Boston grand has the same soundboard area as a typical 7-foot piano, creating the power, richness, and feel of playing a much larger piano. It has many design influences from Steinway, but at a fraction of the cost of even a good used Steinway.
New ones are $49,800 so here is a chance to own a scarcely used one for less than half of that! It has just had a full voicing, regulating, key-top dressing and tuning job by one of the area’s top technicians (not just a quick tuning like so many other places) and the cabinet has been completely gone over to the point where the ebony polish finish seems to glow. It has been cleaned both inside and out to within an inch of its life by our crew, and even includes a brand-new adjustable artist bench. Hurry on in before someone beats you to it!
