Background

The Mason & Hamlin Model A Grand Piano is considered one of the world's best grand pianos under six feet. Measuring 5’8”, don’t be fooled by its size, this instrument is full of expression, character, and exquisite beauty.

Where other similarly sized instruments lack the model's control or vibrancy, this impressive piano achieved unmatched volume, tone, and projection. The Mason & Hamlin Model A Grand Piano is the dream accompaniment for homes, professional studios, conservatories, and other institutions.

Specifications

Mason & Hamlin has a reputation for building the heaviest pianos worldwide. From the thickest hardwood rims to the full-perimeter plate and Tension Resonator, the Mason & Hamlin Model A Grand Piano is a durable and robust piano design built to last for generations. In fact, the Tension Resonator reduces the need for regulation, while the plate reflects the energy back towards the soundboard, enhancing the volume and sustain.

Like all modern Mason & Hamlin pianos, the Mason & Hamlin Model A contains the exclusive Wessell, Nickel, and Gross Composite Actions. The shanks are epoxy carbon fiber, and the action uses hard bushings, not felt bushings. As a result, the piano lasts longer and requires less regulation and maintenance as the action is unaffected by temperature or humidity.

Finally, the soundboard – the piano's essence – is crafted from tight-grained, quartersawn Eastern White Spruce that is dried and aged to perfection. The soundboard gradually tapers at the edges, increasing flexibility and performance. Alongside the Tension Resonator, you can expect your piano to continue to play with the same vibrancy and life as the day it first arrived.
