Harmony in Size and Sound

In Stock! At 48” tall the F121 upright piano is more than a match for any of the big-name competitors at a fraction of the price. A favorite of teachers and technicians you really must play it to see what all the fuss is about. The Queen Anne style in Britain refers to a furniture style of the early 1870s, which was influenced by the Georgian period and was popular mainly in the United States of America and Great Britain. The furniture style was influenced by Chinese elements and were most common with curved legs and mahogany finishes. This medium-sized piano is one of the most popular sizes for piano players. The balance of size and sound are combined in an ideal way. The unique cabinet design creates perfect harmony of appearance as well as sound.

Determined to deliver affordable pianos to the educational market, Schimmel partnered with Pearl River, a Chinese manufacturer, in 2016. Together, they've created the Fridolin Schimmel lineup. The Fridolin Schimmel F121 Upright Piano is the middle option in the upright collection – it combines the soul of a German piano with impeccable Chinese manufacturing.

As a worthy competitor to other middle-sized uprights, the Schimmel Fridolin F121 achieves a bright tone and immediate attack – characteristic features of other Schimmel pianos. However, while the piano is constructed in China, it uses many German components, including Rosslau strings and German hammers. Schimmel's engineers also review the final piano to ensure it matches their high standards.

To achieve the fast attack, all Fridolins use a Maple action. In fact, its action resembles a Yamaha U1. Most unusually, Schimmel models their uprights on concert grand pianos, technical designs being updated for the former. As a result, the Schimmel Fridolin F121 has excellent touch control.

The hammer felt is sourced exclusively from Germany, and the soundboard is made from AAA Solid Spruce. It's this European spruce that differentiates so much from its Japanese competitors like Kawai or Yamaha.

Collectively, these elements produce a bright, immediate attack, similar to the Schimmel Classic Series. For players who prefer the European sonic experience to Japanese upright pianos, it's a definite contender.

The deal with Pearl River in 2016 marks a major new period in Schimmel's history. While it's not the first time they've produced pianos outside Germany, it is the first non-European selection of pianos they've manufactured. Over 130 years since Wilhelm and Fridolin Schimmel first began making piano, the Schimmel Fridolin F121 Upright Piano is a symbol of the company's adaptiveness and ingenuity. And in the Queen Anne style, you can harken back to those earliest days of piano making.
