Background

Mason & Hamlin first started producing pianos way back in 1854. Uncompromising and brilliant, they worked with only the finest materials and innovative techniques. That same ethos is on full display in the Mason & Hamlin A188 Grand Piano.

The preeminent piano is the four-piece Artist Series: the A188 is not just for artists; it is a work of art. Indeed, the legendary piano makers have brought all their talent, passion, and skill to bear on this impeccable instrument, sure to delight professional pianists the world over.

It's 160 years of experience distilled into one cutting-edge instrument.

Specifications

When commencing the Artist Series project, Mason & Hamlin began with a simple outline: "The best materials for the best control." That's perhaps an understatement. Using state-of-the-art materials, the Wessel, Nickel, and Gross Composite Actions are delicate yet durable beneath a pianist's fingertips; they'll outperform any wooden action by over three times as long.

In addition, the preference for superb quality materials continues throughout: Beech rims, a treble bridge made from vertically laminated Beech and solid Beech cap, and a bass bridge made from quarter-sawn solid Beech.

It's all exquisite in detail and finishes. Take the quarter-sawn solid spruce soundboard responsible for conveying the brilliant and beautiful sound that'll only improve with age.

Best of all, before leaving the factory, every piano is rigorously tested, inspected, and certified to Mason & Hamlin's highest standards of quality.

History

Emmons Hamlin and Henry Mason were a surprising duet; one man a mechanic, the other a pianist; together, they formed one of the greatest piano-making teams in history. They began with a modest goal: to make the world's greatest musical instrument: nothing less.

Over a century later, the company was acquired by another double-act, Gary and Kirk Burgett. Enraptured by the legendary company's pianos, they set to work integrating the innovation and advancements of the twenty-first century. Few can deny they've achieved their goal with the Mason & Hamlin A188 Grand Piano.
