In Stock!  Just traded in on a new Schimmel upright, this Knabe 245 is a great example of a reasonably priced console piano. At 45" tall it is bigger than most and has a nice clear tone and responsive action. It was built in 2012 and has lots of life left in it. Full of charm and expression it also features a practice pedal that allows you to play without disturbing the rest of your family. It would make an excellent starter piano for a beginning student or a recreational player, as well as being a nice piece for the home. For years this was one of the most popular console pianos in the Knabe line up. The elegant ebony polish finish is in great shape as well as the matching factory duet bench. The piano is just back from our shop where it received a full and complete regulation and tuning and then cleaned inside and out, front and back to within an inch of its life (see photos). These are getting tough to find in this kind of condition.

Background

The Knabe WMV 245 is a highly regarded upright piano within Knabe's Academy collection. Despite being at the smaller end of the collection, standing at 45" in height, the sound is impressive. Like all Knabe pianos, its sturdy construction and solid feel delivers a quality piano at an affordable price.

Whether you're purchasing this piano for a domestic or educational setting, you'll be highly satisfied with this instrument; and the ebony polish finish with brass detailing makes this an attractive accompaniment to any room, regardless of the décor.

Specifications

Beneath the surface, the Knabe WMV 245 Piano contains a solid white spruce Canadian soundboard (soundboard area: 1,898 sq. in.) that has been symmetrically tapered and contoured to produce the desired sound. Indeed, some have noted that this piano sits at the brighter and bolder end of the acoustic spectrum.

Adding to the overall sound are the renowned Roslau strings and hammers capped in premium-grade wool. The sound created is reflected back onto the soundboard by the pure iron plate, produced traditionally using the slow sand method of casting.

The action is all maple with an aluminum rail; this prevents any distortions due to heat or humidity, delivering the same sound in all climates. Combined with the carefully balanced and weighted keys, players can expect a firm touch at all dynamic levels.

Notably, the full-length ribs are made from pre-curved solid white spruce, notched to the inner rim. Alongside the laminated hardwood back post, it yields a sturdy, robust piano capable of withstanding thousands of hours of playing.

Other features include the 15-ply, cross-grained laminated hard rock maple pin block; the hand-notched maple-capped bridges; and nickel-plated tuning pins.

Overall, the Knabe WMV 245 piano is a reliable, affordable, and enjoyable piano for the home and education market.
