In Stock! Here is another example of why so many experts consider Steinway to be the world’s finest piano. A fully rebuilt Steinway M in ebony satin. At 5'7" in length, this piano's rich tone and responsive action is found not only in a great many homes, but in most music conservatories, schools and rehearsal rooms.  Called the "Medium" grand, there is nothing medium about the sound emanating from this instrument. Complete with a matching Steinway artist bench and just back from having been completely tuned, voiced and regulated. The least expensive one for sale in anywhere near this kind of condition. It will be a joy to own for generations to come.

Background

Prized by music schools, amateur players, and professionals throughout the world, this "Medium Grand" hides a richness and depth of sound almost unmatched by its counterparts. Originally introduced in 1911 according to the designs of Henry Ziegler, the much sought-after piano has remained in production ever since.

Over the years, Ziegler's original designs were tweaked and perfected. In 1917, for example, the piano grew by an inch to accommodate the new internal additions. Produced thirty years after the first ever constructed, this piano includes some of the advances Steinway has made in the past century.

Specifications

All Steinway Model M Grand Pianos contain a superior Sitka Spruce soundboard – chosen for its rich, sustained tonal response. This 1941 Steinway M differs from older models by including the Diaphragmatic Soundboard, first patented by the legendary piano makers in 1936.

This soundboard gradually tapers from the center to the edge, increasing the freedom of movement and "creating a sound of unparalleled richness, sonority, and sustain."

The sound is renowned for its incredible depth and warmth. And the action is very responsive; the piano is suitable for the complex and skilled pieces an advanced player may wish to play.

Elsewhere, the hammers are made from Hornbeam and capped in premium wool felt. The keys are European spruce, as is the keybed; the pedals are heavy, solid brass used for soft, sustaining, and full sostenuto.

Despite the evolution of this piano over the generations, the older models still hold up. Fully regulated and tuned, this 1941 Steinway M Grand Piano is an exquisite instrument. Sturdily built and brimming with character, this is a piano you'll use for many years to come.
